However, this is a case of individual misconduct and must not be generalized as an issue of the entire church. Irresponsible media coverage that fosters misunderstanding may further intensify negative bias against religion. We firmly hope that investigations and media reports will be conducted under the principles of religious protection and respect for human rights.
Some media outlets have even distorted the peaceful prayers and praise of our youth, portraying them as violent or fanatical, despite the complete absence of any confrontation or conflict on site. Let us reaffirm that the church’s official stance is firmly rooted in nonviolence and adherence to the rule of law.
3. Regarding the Trial of Young-ho Yoon
The charges against Young-ho Yoon for violating the Political Funds Act must be thoroughly examined and clarified through due legal process in court. Based on the facts revealed so far, it appears that Yoon, a former leader of the church, committed illegal acts for his own political gain, independent of the church. While we feel a deep sense of responsibility for failing to prevent this deviation, we are determined to use this occasion as an opportunity to reform our organization. However, any attempt to generalize this matter as a reflection of the entire church is clearly unjust.

Amid the recent media reports and investigations involving the Family Federation, some have begun to criticize us under the pretext of a “violation of church-state separation.”
First and foremost, we wish to clarify that the Family Federation has never engaged in any collusion with a specific political party or politician. Moreover, the very framing of this issue as a “violation of church-state separation” stems from a misunderstanding of its true meaning.
From a constitutional and historical perspective, the principle of church-state separation was designed to prevent the state from suppressing specific religions or allowing majority religions to marginalize or persecute minority faiths.
It is not a concept meant to prohibit religious organizations from having a voice in society. Therefore, the current wave of distorted reporting and one-sided investigations directed at the Family Federation contradicts the original spirit of church-state separation.
1. The True Meaning of Church-State Separation — Protecting Freedom of Faith
Historically, in Europe, state-established religions often oppressed others. In response to these painful histories, modern democracies adopted the principle of church-state separation to protect religious freedom. Both the U.S. and Korean constitutions reflect this spirit.
The purpose of church-state separation is to ensure mutual non-interference between religion and government, allowing all citizens to freely practice their faith. It does not prohibit religious people from expressing their views or acting for peace in society. In fact, defending the rights of minority religions and ensuring faith communities can act equally in the public sphere is at the very heart of this principle.
Currently, some are using the phrase “violation of church-state separation” to criticize the entire denomination of the Family Federation. However, exaggerating religious beliefs and practices as political acts, or linking the misconduct of a few individuals to the entire faith community, violates the constitutional principle of church-state separation.
2. The Family Federation’s Position — Political Neutrality
Let us emphasize once again: the Family Federation has never instructed its members to support any particular party or political group. We have consistently respected the political freedom of every believer.
It is true that in the past, some individual leaders may have pursued political interests for personal gain. However, these were personal deviations and not aligned with the official position of the movement — most members only learned of these issues through media reports.
To generalize such incidents as representative of the entire church is both unfair and misleading.
Political freedom is a matter of personal conscience, and the Family Federation has always maintained a position of political neutrality. Our consistent mission has been the restoration of family values and the pursuit of world peace.
Given this, we believe the intense scrutiny and investigation into the Family Federation is rooted in religious prejudice. It threatens the principles of religious freedom and the proper understanding of church-state separation.
3. The Public Nature of Religion and the Family Federation’s Practice
Religion is not confined to private belief. It sets moral standards, helps others, and plays a vital public role in building a peaceful society. Since its founding, the Family Federation has pursued the mission of building families rooted in true love and creating a world where humanity becomes one family.
True Parents have gone beyond the role of religious leaders to take direct action for peace — including landmark meetings with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990 and North Korean President Kim Il Sung in 1991.
These events were pivotal in ending the Cold War and promoting reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula — not for the benefit of any political faction, but as part of their religious mission to fulfill Heaven’s will.
Furthermore, through youth outreach, family counseling, international volunteer work, and peace-focused NGOs, we have consistently contributed to public welfare. The Family Federation has not aligned with either conservative or progressive ideologies but has pursued peace transcending political and ideological boundaries. This is our proud legacy.

We understand that many of you are feeling worried and anxious due to the continued media reports. In particular, recent distorted news regarding True Mother's health has caused further concern. We would like to clarify the facts and ask for your continued prayers and sincere devotion.
True Mother’s Health Condition
The Special Prosecutor's Office has notified that True Mother is to appear on Monday, September 8. Some media outlets reported that True Mother was admitted to HJ Magnolia International Hospital after visiting Asan Medical Center in Seoul. One outlet even falsely claimed that Asan Medical Center refused her admission and treatment—this is simply not true.
In fact, on September 4, True Mother underwent a medical procedure related to a heart condition at Asan Medical Center and is currently recovering. Certain media have distorted the situation, suggesting that her hospitalization is a way to avoid appearing before the prosecutor, but this is also false. The procedure had been scheduled well in advance.
True Mother has long been advised to undergo treatment due to the strain on her heart. At the beginning of the investigation, she had even expressed her intention to travel to the United States to receive detailed examinations and treatment at the hospital she regularly visits.
